Old Buses

This weekend was Doors Open Days in Edinburgh.  It’s a fantastic way to see places the public aren’t usually allowed to go in to.  We decided to visit the Lothian Buses Open Doors Event which was held at their depot in Annandale Street.  It was a fantastic opportunity to see the insides and outs of …

Day out along the Coast

I’ve recently been hearing a lot of good things about North Berwick, so when deciding where to go for a fun day out it was at the top of my list.  Its only about 40 minutes down the coast from Edinburgh but we’d never thought to visit before.  I think we’ll definitely be going back! …

Formula 1

Just recovering from a busy but fantastic weekend, the highlight of which was a trip to the British Grand Prix. I’ve never been before, but we’re big fans and watch most of the races on TV. My dad and brother went last year and enjoyed it so much that we all decided to get tickets …

UAE

I am currently in Ajman – for those who don’t know, this is the smallest of the United Arab Emirates not far from Dubai.  I’m here to speak at a conference on Urban Planning.  Yesterday we had the fantastic opportunity to visit the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.  The Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in …

Helping strangers

I like helping strangers & today I managed to do just that. What’s even better is that I helped by using my in-depth knowledge of transport real-time information systems!!! See my job is helpful in the real world after all! Okay, so basically I stood at the bus stop and told a (pregnant) woman all …

A week full of things that I like

I’m kicking off my blog with a bumper load full of things that I liked. This week I was off work on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday because our favourite Manx friends came to stay with their gorgeous 14 week old little boy. It was brill to see all three of them, but Fergus’s toothless grin …
